5. Billie Lourd Fisher and Carrie Fisher in Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Wrapping up our list is this snapshot of the late Carrie Fisher and her daughter, Billie Lourd, starring alongside one another in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In the new trilogy , Lourd plays one of General Leia’s (Fisher’s) lieutenants, and even sports the same up-do that was synonymous with Leia’s character in the original trilogy. Carrie Fisher passed away before she could finish filming the final installment of the series— The Rise of Skywalker, but director J.J. Abrams was able to use editing and cut scenes from previous films to make her come to life for the final movie.
Though Abrams had originally planned for Lourd to not appear in any scenes in which Fisher would be edited in, Lourd actually requested to be in scenes with her late mother, and change were made accordingly. Lourd noted that she wanted to do these scenes for her “children when I have kids”, and that she wanted to be able to share that moment with them.
